In the workshop, we're used to messing with crappy cable tensions and bent derailleur hangers. Here is why the Wheeltop system (like the EDS OX) caught our engineer eyes:

Goodbye mechanical cable: No more cable stretching in the housing messing up your shifting, mud clogging the routing, or nightmare internal routing. You bolt on the derailleur, bolt on the shifter, pair them, and you're done. The upgrade takes 15 minutes.

Does the Wheeltop derailleur battery last long enough for big rides?

Clearly, yes. In classic Enduro use, you have dozens of hours of riding ahead of you before needing to recharge your derailleur. Personally, I manage to go 1 month riding almost every day! The shifter runs on a standard coin cell battery that lasts for months / years.

Can I keep my current SRAM or Shimano cassette?

That's the genius of the Wheeltop system! Via the smartphone app, you can tune the derailleur's stroke to match the exact spacing of your cassette cogs, whether it's 11 or 12 speeds, actually even starting from 4 speeds! As for the rest of the drivetrain, the derailleur is compatible with Shimano, SRAM, or any other brand. It's universal "Plug & Play".

What happens if I hit a rock with the derailleur?

Just like on very high-end competitor models, the Wheeltop features an overload protection clutch system. In the event of a heavy impact, the mechanism disengages for a split second to let the derailleur yield and absorb the hit, preventing the internal motor from breaking, before snapping back into position. That's enough to save you €100-€200 a year.

Is the system afraid of water and mud, the famous "British" conditions?

No, the system (motor and battery) is certified waterproof (IP67 rating). We tested it in thick liquid mud, washed it with a hose (without blasting the seals directly with a pressure washer, obviously, we're still mechanics!), and we had zero signal loss or water ingress.
